How to change your cPanel password

This tutorial will assume that you are already logged into your cPanel. If you are having problems doing that or don't know how, please view the tutorial named: How to log into cPanel.

Please remember to make your password strong and secure:

  • Memorize your password, do not write it down
  • Do not share your password. Create a new account instead
  • Avoid using one password for all your logins
  • Don't provide your password to someone for assistance unless you verify:
    • They need the password
    • They are who they say they are
  • Avoid logging in from public computers
  • Change your password frequently
  • Avoid dictionary words
  • Avoid familiar items (names, phone numbers, etc.)
  • Use a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters
  • Use more characters (7+)

On the main page of your cPanel scroll down to the preferences section and click on the link named change password. At the change password page, enter your old password in the first box then enter your new password in the second box and repeat new password in the third box. Click the change password button which will log you out of cPanel and present you with a login screen to log back into cPanel using your new password.
